Intel Tries Again On Water Goal.


Chip-making giant Intel Corp. missed its own mark on water conservation in 1999 while debugging technical glitches with a new water treatment process.

But the Rio Rancho plant intends to make up for water under the bridge with new processes developed in the past year, according to Intel's "Environmental, Health and Safety Report 2000."

The current edition of the annual report details company efforts in 1999 and the goals Intel had set for 2000.

The manufacturing plant, which uses about 4 million gallons of water a day, has set a goal for water conservation that would hold consumption steady despite the expansion of production capacity. …
