Two Incumbents Decide Not To Seek Re-Election

The Albuquerque Board of Education will have at least two new faces next year.

Bill Rothanbargar, a board member for 12 years, on Tuesday joined board president Aggie Lopez in deciding against a re-election bid. Rothanbargar represents the near Northeast; Lopez represents the North Valley.

Incumbent Richard Toledo, who represents the Northeast Heights, said he was uncertain all day about whether to seek a second term. Toledo decided to file for re-election just over an hour before the 5 p.m. Tuesday deadline because he said he was concerned there would only be one candidate.
