LAS CRUCES Timing is everything.

Just when New Mexico State's men's basketball team badly needed a win, Division II Western New Mexico popped up on the schedule.

The Aggies ended a three-game losing streak Monday night, manhandling the Mustangs 104-55 at the Pan American Center. The win gave NMSU a 3-6 record, while WNMU dropped to 0-6.

New Mexico State dominated from the start, leading 40-11 with 12 minutes gone. Of NMSU's 200 minutes of playing time, freshmen played 96.

The highlight came with 5:17 left in the first half when junior guard Eric Channing hit a field goal, giving him 11 points in the game and 1,000 in his collegiate career. …
