Strolls fill Nob Hill, Old Town.

Nob Hill was absolutely teeming with people, including the mayor, at its 6th annual evening shop and stroll Dec. 7. And Old Town enjoyed a rush of festive-minded folks at its daylong kickoff event Dec. 1.

"We were packed," said Hans, owner of The A Store, which featured live tunes from a senior citizens singing group, Friends. "It was very successful."

Carl Latino, co-owner of Hey Jhonny said his store, "an eclectic collection of affordable art," rang up sales steadily until it closed at 9:30 p.m. The shop was so packed, a guard at the door monitored the number of shoppers allowed in.

"It was getting almost too crowded this year," Latino said.

Adding to Nob Hill's fiesta ambiance, Christmas carolers toured the sidewalks, live mannequins "vogued" in lighted windows and a troupe of costumed harlequins performed both inside stores and out on the streets.

Merchants offered not only music but cookies, hot cider, live demos (Martha's Body Bueno Shop) and holiday treats and discounts. …
