Proposal Would Urge N.M. Bill

An Albuquerque councilor said he wants to undo the work of New Mexico Supreme Court justices who last year struck down the city's teen-curfew law.

Councilor Greg Payne wants the City Council to approve a proposal today that would urge state lawmakers to amend a law that bars Albuquerque from enacting a curfew.

Councilors also will consider a proposal that would declare Albuquerque an "immigrant-friendly city" and fund a new city office to help undocumented workers get access to basic services.

Payne contends Albuquerque needs a curfew law to keep children 17 and under off the streets after 11 p. …
