Panko's 36 Points Leads Rejuvenated New Mexico

The New Mexico Slam broke out of their season-opening doldrums in dramatic fashion Saturday night.

The Slam set an International Basketball League record with 137 points to beat the Richmond Rhythm 137-115 at the Convention Center in front of 1,984 fans. New Mexico started the season with two losses for a 1-2 record.

Andy Panko scored 36 points and had 14 rebounds for the injury-plagued Slam. Keith Carter finished with 26 points.

New Mexico found out Saturday afternoon that starting center Taymon Domzalski, a Duke graduate from Lovington, suffered a fractured radius in his left forearm in a collision Friday night. …
