New Mexico Falters In Its Home Opener

This time, the problem was the offense.

The New Mexico Slam lost to the Las Vegas Bandits 97-94 on Friday night at the Convention Center when the Slam stopped making their shots in the second half.

In the season opener, New Mexico fell to Cincinnati 122-105 because it played poor defense. This time, the defense was good, but the shots wouldn't fall. So, the Slam begin their second season with an 0-2 record.

New Mexico started strong and led by as many as 14 points in the first quarter, then gradually cooled. In the third quarter, the Slam made just 7 of 27 shots. They didn't improve much in the fourth quarter at 6 for 21. …
