Tapas Make Delicious Meal at El Farol.

The bar at El Farol is Canyon Road's celebratory institution and has been so for more years than we can remember. But El Farol is a good place for a special dinner, too, as we rediscovered recently, on the occasion of a colleague's birthday.

In the food department, El Farol is best known for its tapas the Spanish version of bar food. The five of us managed to sample a number of them, all delicious.

It was a bitter, cold evening, and we were in the mood for hot food. So we chose but a single of the "tapas frias" the ceviche de mariscos ($6.95). It was the classic mixture of perfectly fresh shrimp, scallops and squid in a sharp lime marinade and presented in a martini glass. …
