Facility Helps Abused Children and Adults

At first glance the Family Advocacy Center looks like a cozy, child-friendly office with comfortable couches, toys and books.

The center opened its doors at 433 St. Michael's Drive on July 1 but plans an official open house and ribbon cutting from 10 a.m. to noon Monday.

St. Vincent Hospital, the Santa Fe Rape Crisis Center and the Santa Fe Police Department collaborated on creating the center. It offers medical, therapeutic and forensic/investigative services for sexually and physically abused children and their families at one location. The facility is financially supported by the hospital, and each participating agency foots the bill for its own staff. …
