Maybe the football season was contagious. While it's still too early to press the panic button, the Mountain West Conference needs to start pressing when it comes to some quality men's basketball victories.

The past football season was a huge letdown for the MWC, but basketball was supposed to make up for it. It hasn't.

Thus far, the league is just 31-23 in nonconference games and only 24-23 against Division-I schools. What's more, the MWC doesn't have a single big win.

The result? The conference is 15th in one replication of the Ratings Percentage Index. The RPI is one of the main equations for choosing the NCAA Tournament field come March.
