Shutdown Ends DA's Closures

The troubled Drift Inn Lounge on Old South Coors will drift out of business by New Year's Eve, according to an agreement approved this week by a state district judge.

The Bernalillo County District Attorney's Office on Dec. 11 sought to close the bar at 1119 Coors SW as a public nuisance.

Corporate owner DD-P Inc. and individual bar owner Dominic Padilla agreed Monday to shut down and vacate the premises by Dec. 31 and never to operate or reopen the business as a bar, lounge, dance hall, package liquor store or liquor-serving establishment.

The agreement between owners and Deputy District Attorney Mark Drebing also called for shuttering and securing all access to the building, posting no trespassing signs and removing "all inoperable vehicles, discarded appliances and other trash and debris" from property grounds no later than Dec. …
