Bicycle Board To Advise Council.

The City Council wants more bicyclists to give their ideas for designing bicycle paths and lanes in the city, so it created the Bicycle Advisory Board.

The board will have seven members: one from each City Council district and one at-large member. The board would advise the council on plans for bikeways, the monitoring of bicycle facilities, and on the promotion of bicycling as transportation and recreation and the promotion of bike safety.

At the council meeting Wednesday night, District 6 Councilor David Bency questioned the need for another board.

"I'd rather that the Parks and (Recreation Commission) take it under their wing," Bency said. …
