Decision To Annex Canyon Area Halted

A state District Court judge on Dec. 8 reversed a New Mexico Municipal Boundary Commission decision that would have forced the city of Albuquerque to annex land at the mouth of Tijeras Canyon.

Developer West Tijeras Ltd. Co. wanted the city to annex about 100 acres of its property. The land is on the south side of Interstate 40 east of Albuquerque between Four Hills and Carnuel.

In May 1998, the city's Environmental Planning Commission denied the developer's request to have the city annex its property.

But in January, West Tijeras Ltd. appealed to the three-member Municipal Boundary Commission. …
