Bernalillo Schools Seek Funds for Improvements.

Bernalillo Public Schools asked legislators Tuesday for $850,000 in state dollars to pay for playgrounds and other needs.

The money would go toward renovating playgrounds at Carroll and Algodones elementaries and Santo Domingo and Cochiti schools.

Another $150,000 will be sought to renovate the Bernalillo High School administrative and counseling complex and $400,000 to replace computers at all the district's schools.

School officials, including board president Jack Torres and board member Margaret Palumbo, met at the Bernalillo Middle School library for a luncheon with Reps. Jeannette Wallace, R-Los Alamos, James Roger Madalena, D-Jemez Pueblo, and Judy Vanderstar-Russell, R-Rio Rancho. …
