Being a playing assistant coach for the New Mexico Scorpions the past few seasons hasn't been a healthy occupation.

Last season, the Scorpions lost Joe Ferras, the Western Professional Hockey League points leader through late December, to a freak eye injury that ended his career.

Peter Ambroziak missed about six weeks with a shoulder separation.

This season, it's Brian Pellerin.

He broke a foot Saturday blocking a shot against Amarillo and will miss four to six weeks, says New Mexico coach Tony Martino.
