Shelter Gets Grant From Philip Morris.

SANDOVAL COUNTY Sandoval County's first shelter for victims of domestic violence has won a $5,000 grant from Philip Morris Companies Inc., according to a Project Sandoval County news release.

Project Sandoval County, which offers domestic violence counseling and crisis intervention for abused women, in October broke ground for its Casa Mariposa shelter near U.S. 550 (formerly N.M. 44) in Rio Rancho. Its total cost has been estimated at about $827,000.

Project Sandoval County executive director Charles W. Lowery II said Monday he estimates the shelter will be complete in late spring to mid-summer. …
