President's Son Speaks at Ceremony

Chip Carter, son of former President Jimmy Carter, helped dedicate a new West Side school that bears his father's name during a ceremony in Albuquerque on Monday.

During the dedication at Jimmy Carter Middle School, Carter, 50, said his father's legacy of public service extends beyond his single term as president from 1976 to 1980. His service includes work building houses as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, observing elections and helping to eradicate disease in foreign countries through the Carter Center. The center is a nonprofit human rights organization the former president founded in 1982. …
