After St. Vincent Hospital medical and surgical nurse Celina Salazar re-injured her back a year ago while lifting a patient out of bed, she spent nearly a year living with intense sciatic pain.

Massage, herbs and other noninvasive treatments seemed to do little to alleviate her suffering.

Two weeks ago she turned to P. Langham Gleason, a Santa Fe neurosurgeon who helped select a new imaging device for the hospital that provides valuable day-of-surgery information for spinal fusion and brain tumor surgery.
