Sandia Hits 30 of 40 Foul Shots Vs. Hive

Sandia's boys basketball team had a point to prove Saturday night that it could win a big game without its best player.

The Matadors (6-0) did just that, knocking off Highland 61-56 to win the APS Duke City Basketball Tournament on the Hornets' home court.

Sandia prevailed even with injured star Chris Jenkins on the bench. Jenkins, who made the all-tournament team despite missing the game, suffered a chipped bone in his left ankle in Friday night's semifinal against Manzano. He doesn't expect to play again until after the holiday break.

But Jenkins' teammates found a way to win Saturday. …
