Salary Increases May Be Based On Performance.

A pay-increase plan backed by the governor and the State Personnel Board would award bonuses and greater pay increases to the workers who demonstrate the very best performances.

Describing a plan supported by Gov. Gary Johnson, the State Personnel Office will recommend Monday a 3.5-percent average pay increase for 19,000 state workers and new performance incentives, at a meeting of the Legislative Finance Committee. The committee of state legislators meets year-round to develop the state budget.

The state's top performers would be eligible for a 5-percent pay increase and a one-time $1,000 bonus would be available to employees ranked in top 10 percent performance-wise, under the recommendations to be presented by State Personnel Office director Gip Brown on Monday to the Legislative Finance Committee. …
