Trail Count Finds Cyclists Top Users.

Election ballots are not the only things that get counted in New Mexico these days, nor, need it be said, in the state of Florida!

The counting focus in Albuquerque this fall was on the number of trail users bicyclists, pedestrians, in-line skaters, equestrians using the considerable network of multi-use trails that weave through the city and parts of Bernalillo County. It's a periodic exercise by the 15-member Greater Albuquerque Recreational Trails Committee and conducted by volunteers who station themselves at designated locations to watch and wait and count in three-hour segments.

No controversies there. And no surprise, either, to learn that GARTC's "Trail Count 2000" put bicyclists at the top as the most frequent trail users during two weekends in late September. …
