Moviegoers Mostly Leaving 'Left Behind' Alone.(Metropolitan)

Duke City Audiences An Exception in U.S.

Across the country, "Left Behind: The Movie" has been a box office dud. But in Albuquerque, more than half the showings of the film sold out on opening weekend.

The film portrays an end-of-the-world scenario according to fundamentalist Christians.

It attracted 1,400 people the opening weekend, estimated Casey Rupley, manager of Movies West on Coors NW. "It did excellent," he said, and that he has added an additional daily show time to accommodate the crowds.

Elsewhere, no one was using superlatives to describe the film's performance. It was only the 17th most popular movie in the country for the week ending Feb. …
