More Money Will Go Into Classrooms

Albuquerque schools Superintendent Brad Allison said Thursday his plan to revamp the district will give classrooms more money and principals more academic authority.

"I think the teachers and principals have been asking for it for years, and the community has been demanding it," he said.

The new makeup of the school board, which will include three new members, is predicted to be more supportive of Allison's reforms.

Allison said Thursday a trend in state and national government to loosen restrictions on spending from earmarked funds for certain programs, especially will help speed education reform. …
