Stages Sets Mood For Season With Jazz 3X2.

Good entertainment enlightens and informs the audience. But most importantly, it's provocative, says Craig Strong, producing director of Santa Fe Stages.

And provocative is high on the playbill at Santa Fe Stages' 2001 summer season a mix of music, dance and theater that kicks off May 24 and continues through Sept. 2.

But first, to get patrons in the live performance mood, Santa Fe Stages and the Santa Fe Jazz Foundation are co-presenting a spring jazz series: Jazz 3x2, three evenings of jazz duos at the Firestone.

"There's nothing like a live performance," Strong said. "To be there for that moment, which happens then and never again, is really magical."

"Bumblebee" Bob Weil, a Santa Fe jazz promoter, put together the Jazz 3x2 program which features living legends on the stage. …
