Panel Not Satisfied With Applicants

TAOS The search for a new Taos County Manager moved back to square one Thursday with the announcement that an independent panel named to evaluate applicants could not agree on a suitable candidate.

The six-member panel of professionals with local government and business expertise which has been culling candidates from a field of 10 applicants has instead recommended the county Board of Commissioners post the job again, increase the salary from $64,000 to $75,000 a year to attract a broader range of applicants, and begin the review process anew.

The commissioners agreed to follow the panel's recommendations at their regular meeting Thursday following an executive session with panel members. …
