19-Year-Old Gets 4 Traffic Citations

LAS CRUCES City police have issued four traffic citations, including one for reckless driving, to a 19-year-old driver whose December car accident killed a pedestrian.

District Attorney Susana Martinez said last week she decided not to file vehicular homicide charges against the driver, Troy Watson, because there was not enough evidence to establish reckless driving, which would be crucial to winning a vehicular homicide case.

"The police department believes all the requisite elements existed at the time of the crash to prove reckless driving on the part of Mr. Watson," said City Hall spokesman Udell Vigil, who fielded questions about the case for the police department. …
