Mother Mum On 7 Kids' Custody Case.

A South Valley mother was instructed by a judge Wednesday not to publicly talk about the case involving seven of her children who are in the state's custody.

Though no one involved in the case would call it a gag order, Rita Lopez and her court-appointed attorney, Julita Ann Leavell, said after a hearing before Children's Court Judge Geraldine Rivera that they aren't allowed to comment.

Lopez had an eighth child last month who also was taken into state custody shortly after she gave birth. The newborn's removal is part of a separate case.

One of Rivera's aides said after the hearing that the judge won't comment on her decision and added that abuse and neglect cases are confidential. …
