* Legislators take governor to lunch to talk about budget format

SANTA FE Tax cuts, money for school construction and how best to reach a budget agreement were on the table the lunch table when Gov. Gary Johnson ate and talked Wednesday with Senate President Pro Tem Richard Romero and other legislative leaders.

"We're talking that's an accomplishment here," said Romero, an Albuquerque Democrat, as he and the Republican governor walked to The Pink Adobe restaurant together from the state Capitol. "If we can get this going, I think we'll be halfway there."

Sen. Ben Altamirano, D-Silver City, who chairs the Senate Finance Committee, told Johnson that support is growing in the Senate for some kind of personal-income-tax relief. …
