New School Surviving Glitches.

Edgewood Middle School, which opened for the first time in August, has had its problems.

But Sandy Beery, the school's principal, said the school is accomplishing all that was promised.

The Moriarty school district determined the need for a new middle school more than six years ago, when enrollment at Moriarty Middle School climbed to more than 800 students. Both schools now have enrollments around 400.

Beery said the new facility has resulted in less stress among the students and staff, most of whom came from the previously overcrowded Moriarty Middle School.

"They aren't bumping into each other like they used to," Beery said.
