Mariposa Ranch Sounds Promising.(Opinion)


Albuquerque Academy is studying how to develop about 10 square miles of former ranch land for businesses, schools, parks and between 15,000 to 18,000 residents over the next two or three decades.

The school's High Desert Investment Corp. would plan and develop Mariposa Ranch, as it did with the Academy's 1,000-acre tract in the Sandia foothills. That high-end subdivision, High Desert, has an excellent track record for well-planned, ecologically sensitive development.

The company has spent more than two years surveying the biology and archaeology of Mariposa Ranch. …
