Right up until her unexpected death early Friday morning, Rep. Delores Wright of Chaparral was working in service to her state.

Late Thursday evening, the 72-year-old legislator was in her office talking to people about her bill to protect people from unwanted telemarketing calls, according to her secretary. Wright's bill, prompted by complaints from her southern New Mexico constituents, would set up a statewide database of people who don't want to be bothered by telemarketers. Because it was similar to legislation proposed by Sen. Dede Feldman, D-Albuquerque, Wright had planned to work with Feldman on a compromise measure.
