All But UNM's Day-Commute Students Have Enough Parking, Report Says.(Metro & New Mexico)

The University of New Mexico has adequate parking overall for its north, central and south campuses, a parking consultant told a regents committee Monday.

But the central campus lacks sufficient parking for commuter students during the day, Dan Keller of Campus Parking Management Associates said in a report to the Finance and Facilities Committee.

Keller recommended against building new parking structures in the next five years, partly because of their high cost and partly because of their permanence.

He said the university should begin acquiring properties on the northwest part of the central campus near University and Las Lomas NE and consider the grassy area at Johnson Field for a surface lot. …
