Retreats build couples' communication skills

So, in the spirit of Valentine's Day, give your marriage a gift by attending one of the many weekend workshops offered by local churches and counselors. Offerings vary in approach, intensity and price but have one thing in common: building communication.

The Marriage Encounter Weekend offered by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe focuses on dialogue, while the Marriage Encounter United Methodist Weekend involves presentations and one-on-one discussions between partners. The Relationship Enhancement Weekend offered by local therapists France Sarradon, Bob Sugar and Maurine Renville puts into practice some of the communication skills that release anger and anxiety and build listening. …
