"Up One Rung" by Joy Mitchell Price

"Up One Rung" is not an easy book to read. It is a complicated, deep, compassionate, cutting and ultimately an innocent tale.

In the novel, Placitas author Joy Mitchell Price introduces five modern, spirited characters Eldridge, Grace, Shelia, Kurt and Sandy who share sexually abusive childhoods. They help one another recover from the effects of how that abuse derailed them from having full, healthy lives.

Then they meet 11-year-old Joshua and want to help him escape from his nightmare: He is being sold for sex by his stepfather.
