Former Lobos fullback Rudy Krall could dominate a football game

Maybe Rudy "Big Horse" Krall was born 50 years too soon, but the former University of New Mexico fullback wouldn't trade his experiences of half a century ago for anything.

Why should he? A folder full of yellowed newspaper clippings tells the story.

During his stellar football career, the powerful Krall had the distinction of playing in three bowl games and two legendary all-star games: the 1946 Sun Bowl; '46 Honolulu Pineapple Bowl; '47 San Diego Harbor Bowl; '49 East-West Shrine Game; and, after graduation, the '49 Chicago Tribune College All-Stars vs. the NFL champion Philadelphia Eagles at Soldier Field.

"After the all-star game, Philadelphia offered me $7,500 to try out for the club," says Krall, 75. …
