Land Disputes Subject Of Closed Sessions

Rio Rancho City councilors are holding a series of closed meetings to discuss settling some real estate development disputes in Unit 16 West that have wound up in both state and federal courts.

Councilors met in closed session from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers of City Hall. None made any comment about the meeting as they left.

Councilors are scheduled to meet again in private at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and again at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 14, just before their regular meeting at 7 p.m., according to council agendas.

Both City Administrator James Jimenez and City Attorney James Babin said this week the meetings are discussions in hopes of settling lawsuits over development plans for Unit 16 West, also known as Spanish Trails. …
