New Mexico Earns American Farm Bureau Award.(New Mexico)

New Mexico and Idaho were the only Western states chosen to receive a President's Award from the American Farm Bureau Federation during the organization's recent annual meeting in Florida.

The award is given to Farm Bureau states that have excelled in membership achievement and program efforts.

During the meeting, John Van Sweden, a Colfax County rancher and president of the New Mexico bureau, was re-elected to the board of directors of the national organization.

Van Sweden has been president of the New Mexico Farm Bureau for eight years. He was first elected to the national board in 1999.

The board is charged with representing five million family members in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. …
