The day has long passed when most musicians stick with one recording label for their career.

Grammy Award-winning conga player Poncho Sanchez has been on Concord Records' Picante label for 18 of his 20 years as a bandleader, and he's made records with them at the rate of one a year.

Sanchez made his initial appearance on the label on Cal Tjader's "La Onda Va Bien" album in 1980.

Concord's late founder Carl Jefferson initiated the Picante spinoff to document Tjader's music, and Sanchez connected with the Concord, Calif. …
