2 Options Would Let Some Felons Vote.(Legislature)

SANTA FE Senate President Pro Tem Richard Romero wants to restore voting rights to felons who have completed all the conditions of their sentences.

New Mexico is one of six states that does not allow freed felons to vote.

"I personally think once you have done your time, you should have the right to vote," Romero said.

The Albuquerque Democrat has sponsored a bill that would change state laws to restore the voting rights of felons who "satisfactorily completed the terms" of their sentences. He also has introduced a joint resolution calling for a constitutional amendment that would accomplish the same thing. …
