Wok Stirs Up Surprising Meals With a Smile.

To be honest, our expectations weren't high as we pulled into the nondescript parking lot off Cerrillos Road into a typical commercial strip-center with Jackalope on one side, a Samon's and Blimpie's on the other. And coming from San Francisco and Vancouver, respectively, our view of Chinese food here is bleak at best. So it was with heavy hearts and hungry stomachs, we opened the door of Wok.

Wow! Compared to another Santa Fe Chinese spot that shall remain unnamed, Wok is tastefully decorated, elegant and inviting.

"I'm amazed," my fiance declared as the poised waitress offered us a window seat near the electric fireplace. "Plus, I can keep an eye on the Jeep in the parking lot," he joked, peering under the curtain.

Chef/owner Donald Pai's fare is classic spicy Szechwan and Hunan, professionally prepared, fresh and exceedingly tasty a real value. No greasy, noodle-y AmerAsian dishes here. …
