Odetta, often called "The Queen of American Folk Music," celebrated her 50th anniversary in show business last year with MC Records' release of "Blues Everywhere I Go."

She was unavailable for an interview, but her manager, Doug Yeager, was.

Tell me about the blues album.

She hadn't done a blues band album since 1962, though in her albums she would often have acoustic blues: old African-American work songs. I kept getting calls from Mark Carpentieri, the owner of MC Records, and he said Odetta has been the favorite artist of he and his wife and of their parents; would she be receptive to doing another blues album? …
