Agency Director Accepts New Job

Liz Stefanics is resigning as the longtime executive director of the Open Hands social services agency to accept a new job as a regional advocacy manager for the American Cancer Society.

Maye Rivera, president of the Open Hands Board of Directors, said a search for a new executive director already has begun.

Open Hands is a nonprofit organization to assist the frail elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged. Its programs include adult day care, weatherization assistance and community outreach services such as a medical equipment loan bank.

The organization recently opened a third thrift store in Santa Fe and moved its programs and administration offices to the new Rodeo Road Business Park on the south side of Santa Fe. …
