Jury Convicts Man in Chimayo Drug Dealer's Murder.

A jury on Monday convicted Greg Roybal for the murder of a Chimayo drug dealer, a hit allegedly contracted by another heroin-trafficking family for $1,000 worth of drugs.

Roybal, 30, of Chimayo, made no reaction to the guilty verdicts for first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder involving the bloody killing of 40-year-old Nicky Cordova in September 1999.

At his sentencing next month, Roybal faces a mandatory life sentence and could receive up to an additional 16 years in prison. The jury could not reach verdicts on five lesser charges that still could be retried by the District Attorney's Office.
