The Western Professional Hockey League postseason is still more than a month away, but the New Mexico Scorpions are already starting to get their playoff faces on.

New Mexico has won four in a row, including an overtime shootout win over top contender Austin.

Now the Scorpions return home for one game tonight against El Paso before embarking on a four-game road trip to Louisiana and Mississippi.

"We're starting to play playoff hockey," Martino said. "We're really playing well. We keep telling the players that we have one goal, and that's to win a championship. That's what it's all about."

In the Buzzards, New Mexico will be facing a team that is scrambling for the final playoff spot in the Western Division and is undergoing something of an identity crisis. …
