La Cueva senior aids sleep study.(Youth Express)

To some high school students, sleep is a precious commodity. To Lane Gaddy, now a senior at La Cueva High School, sleep is an area for exploration.

Gaddy collaborated on a study, published recently in the Journal of Psychosomatic Research, on the way that nightmares, post-traumatic stress disorder and sleep-disordered breathing are connected. He participated through Albuquerque Public Schools' gifted mentorship program.

The study, conducted last year by researchers at the Sleep and Human Health Institute, showed that nightmares and post-traumatic stress disorder might be less likely to affect those who sleep well. …
