Revamped Casino's Full House.(Metro & New Mexico)

Seven lucky minutes south of Albuquerque seemed more like 70 minutes for some gamblers Friday night as long lines of cars from the city snaked to Isleta Pueblo's new casino and resort.

"It's amazing. The traffic is literally bumper to bumper from Albuquerque to here," said Nancy Eklof, public information officer for the casino, as she watched people stream through the doors for the grand opening.

"I hope we can get everyone in," Eklof said. She said she didn't know the capacity of the 300,000-square-foot casino, but the VIP lounge has room for 3,000 people and was full.

Under a high purple ceiling with pin-prick lights like thousands of stars, a cacophony of bells, pulsing neon lights and the incessant jangle of coins from 1,750 slot machines created a Las Vegas atmosphere. …
