City Would Give Up Review of Changes

Santa Fe Mayor Larry Delgado continued his efforts Thursday to derail a state Senate resolution that would place review of any changes to the old St. Vincent Hospital property under state authority.

Delgado's work comes while the state resolution sponsor, Sen. Ben Altamirano, D-Silver City, remains tied up in legislative budget talks, and a month after a developer with plans for a hotel and government offices successfully bid for the property.

Altamirano's bill would allow the buyer of the hospital property currently owned by state government to bypass city code authority. Instead, redevelopment of the property would be inspected and reviewed by the state's Construction Industries Division. …
