Development Deadlines Put in Place.

Corrales village councilors Tuesday set a project completion deadline for developers trying to get approval of site development plans.

Councilors unanimously amended the village's land-use ordinance to include a 24-month time limit for developers to complete a project. If a developer cannot complete a project within that time period, the project would go back to the Planning and Zoning Commission for an extension. The commission can extend the deadline in cases where the project is delayed by things out of the developer's control, such as litigation.

Councilor John Callan in a motion to approve the amendment made several changes from the way the amendment originally was proposed.

As approved, a site plan will expire if a development is not completed within 24 months. …
