Regulations Add More Restrictions

An ordinance to further regulate home-based businesses was approved unanimously by the Rio Rancho City Council Wednesday.

The ordinance, sponsored by City Councilor Mike Williams, almost completely rewrites the home-occupations ordinance and ends new automotive-repair businesses operating out of homes.

Councilor Patty Thomas amended a part of the proposed ordinance to read that the business "can have only the equivalent of one full-time employee, but not to exceed more than two persons" at the home other than the homeowner.

The proposed ordinance had said the business only could have one full-time employee. …
