18-Year-Old Faces 4 1/2 Years In Plea Deal.

A Moriarty man accused of stabbing another local man last summer has reached a plea agreement with the state, according to documents filed in 7th Judicial District Court in Estancia.

Carlos Martinez, now 18, was 17 when he was accused of stabbing David McGrew in July. In the plea agreement, made in December, Martinez pleaded guilty to two felony counts: assault with intent to commit a violent felony and false imprisonment.

Martinez faces 4 1/2 years in prison, Deputy District Attorney Jim Yontz said Monday.

On July 18, McGrew, then 18, and his then 14-year-old girlfriend were walking along Echo Ridge Road southeast of Moriarty when Martinez and Elisha Saavedra pulled up beside them in a car and Martinez allegedly stabbed McGrew, according to court documents. …
